About Pastor Alec T. Davidson

It is with great pleasure that some of the life and ministry of Pastor Davidson is shared here.

In 1951 Pastor Alec Davidson was appointed Chairman of the Assemblies of God, Australia, and faithfully held this office until 1967.
Of true Christian character and having a keen sense of humor, Pastor Alec Davidson was respected and loved by all those who knew him. He encouraged, counselled and admonished in the faith, possessing the heart of a true shepherd, serving the Lord Jesus Christ.

Personal Prayer Life

Pastor Davidson was a man with a powerful prayer life. Every morning he would rise early and spend many hours in prayer and Bible study. Pastor Davidson loved his God and he loved the people he served so faithfully, laboring many hours in prayer for the salvation and the spiritual well-being of souls.

Prayer Bulletins

The Prayer Bulletins which will be published here were a result of his diligent and prayerful study of the Scripture. Pastor Davidson spent many hours typing the Prayer Bulletins, which were then duplicated and distributed to the Bible study group.

A vision on Prayer

Pastor Davidson passionately related and wrote of an inspiring, life-changing vision which the Lord gave him. He entitled this "God's Prayer Plan - The Divine Prayer Cycle". His vision has been published in the book "Out Of the Hand Of the Enemy" by Merryl Vaughan (Published Australia, 1999).

Early History of Pastor Davidson

Alec T. Davidson was raised by godly Baptist parents and became a qualified accountant, working in this profession for some years before becoming a minister of the Gospel.
His first pastorate was at Woy Woy, N.S.W., Australia. In 1941 he was called to pastor the Hamilton Assembly of God, N.S.W. (Australia). In 1942 Pastor Davidson commenced his ministry in Parkes, N.S.W. (Australia).

In 1947 he invited the Sturgeon Evangelistic Team (from the USA Assemblies of God) to conduct a Tent Crusade in Parkes. This was highly successful with many people born again to faith in Jesus Christ, resulting in young men and women preparing for Christian service. Following these Crusade meetings, a church was established at Peak Hill, N.S.W. An evangelistic Crusade, over three months, was also conducted in Orange, N.S.W.

Alec Davidson was the first in Australia to conduct a Radio Sunday School of the Air, establishing himself as "The Country Radio Pastor". In all he was heard on seven relay stations with 2PK as his source. By this means, thousands of listeners over a very large area of New South Wales were reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Pastor Davidson also wrote a weekly column in "The Parkes Times", N.S.W. (Australia), entitled "Pastor Davidson Speaks".

Along with Pastor C.L. Greenwood (A.O.G., Melbourne, Australia), he invited the Sturgeons to set up the Assemblies of God Bible College in 1948. It was established in Richmond Temple, Melbourne, and later re-located in Camberwell, Victoria.

Of great sadness, was the passing of their only daughter, Ruth, who died of cancer. In spite of this great tragedy, Alec and his wife Olive, bravely continued with courage, faith, hope and love.

In 1987 Pastor Alec T. Davidson experienced his "Coronation Day", as he left the scene of time for the glories of the 'Place prepared' by his Lord and Master.
